More About the Shipmates Roll Call
Welcome aboard to all of you who served aboard or alongside Big John. We are honored to have you as our guest. While JFK is the center of our efforts and this web site, we know it is really about you and all the people like you, who brought her to life serving aboard her for nearly forty years. You share the common bond, having been brought together by this ship and your service in the United States Navy.
We shared with you a feeling of sadness at the ship's recent decommissioning in Mayport and we now share a desire to keep this magnificent ship alive as we prepare her for her final assignment. For four decades she was at the tip-of-the-spear projecting our national will, now she stands ready to continue as a symbol of freedom and to serve this nation and the community as a platform of education and learning.
We are honored by your presence here today and we hope we have faithfully served the memory of this fine ship.
